June house sitting opportunity – NE Portland

May 11th, 2010 by

Looking for someone to house sit the full or partial month of June. Main responsibility would be to feed my cat, Chloe, who is low maintenance. Two bedroom house (with small shrine room) located close-in NE Portland (Hollywood) ~4 miles from Shambhala center/downtown, walking distance to shops, near bus and Max lines. Perhaps an in-town personal retreat space is needed? Prefer someone in the Shambhala community.

Buddhist Household Forming

May 10th, 2010 by

I am a 29 year old Buddhist practitioner and I am forming a household
with a shared meditation practice. I aspire to create a space that is
inviting and fosters a sense of wellbeing by being both aesthetically
and functionally harmonious.

My good friend has joined me in this endeavor and I am also
accompanied by my cat, who spends more time than I do on the cushion.
I’d like to find at least two other people to join the sangha before
securing a space to rent. Ideally the house will be in southeast
Portland and will have space for a garden and an extra room for
meditation.

If you have an established mindfulness meditation practice and would
like to consider sharing it with our burgeoning household, please send
me an e-mail with a bit of information about your practice and your
thoughts about how you would like to share a space with the household.

Considered an emanation of Vajrayogini, she began dharma studies at the age of six began teaching at eleven, became a fully empowered Sakya lineage holder at eighteen. After escaping to India in the late 1950s, she emigrated with her family to Canada in 1971 and now lives in British Columbia. Until 1998, Jetsunma worked full-time as a weaver and part-time as a housekeeper, while also raising her children, running dharma centers, and practicing—often through the night.
