Sakyong and Sakyong Wangmo Expecting Second Child !!!

During this weekend’s celebration of Shambhala’s annual Harvest of Peace, the Sakyong, Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche, announced that he and the Sakyong Wangmo are expecting the birth of their second child.

“I’m happy to say the Sakyong Wangmo is in good health and we are all delighted. Jetsun Drukmo seems very pleased and cheerful. As our family grows, so does the possibility of Shambhala.”

The formal announcement from the Kalapa Court follows:

“The Kalapa Court is delighted to announce that the Kongma Sakyong, Jampal Thrinly Dradul, and the Sakyong Wangmo, Dechen Choying Sangmo are expecting the birth of their second child in the Spring of 2013.

May all beings enjoy Profound, Brilliant Glory. KI KI SO SO!

 

Leadership Changes for International Working Groups

The Shambhala Office of Societal Health and Well-being,  in February, announced leadership changes in several of the international working groups, including Families and Children, Aging, Accessibility and Disability, and Touching the Earth. Each of these working groups offers guidance and support to Shambhala Centres related to their topic areas, and also assists in developing international guidelines and initiatives.

The new chairperson appointments are:
Families and Children’s Working Group — Cathy Conlin, Boulder
Working Group on Aging — Andrea Sherman, New York City
Accessibility and Disability — Stefan Carmien, Spain
Touching the Earth (environmental sustainability) — Joel Shecter, Toronto
Shastri Charlene Leung will continue as Chairperson of the Diversity Working Group, and Sophie Maclaren continues to lead the Young Sangha Working Group.

Deep gratitude for their years of excellent service is extended to the chairpersons who are stepping down, having completed their term limits. This includes Susan Williams (Families and Children), Hamish Maclaren (Accessibility and Disability), David Whitehorn (Aging), and Elizabeth Kanard (Touching the Earth).
