Seeking Essays From Younger Dharma Practitioners

August 22nd, 2011 by

Hello all,

I’m compiling a project for Shambhala Publications called “35<35." It is meant to provide an opportunity for younger practitioners of all Buddhist sanghas to express themselves, find each other, and strengthen a sense of sangha.

I am looking for personal essays from practitioners under 35 years old on what it is like to try to live the dharma–at home, school, work, and in relationships of all kinds; as artists, students, friends, lovers, and seekers.

As editor of the project, I will read each submission. All appropriate works will be posted to our website, https://www.35u35.com/ and 35 essays will be selected for publication in a digital and/or print book.

To be considered as a finalist, submissions should be in English. I’m hoping we can post submissions in other languages to our website, but I’ll have to find an editor who speaks that language first!

The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2011.

More information can be found on the site, especially in the “About” section: https://www.35u35.com/about/

Anyone with questions can email me: [email protected]

Thanks, Susan

Car Wanted To Purchase

July 18th, 2011 by

Dear Sangha,

After 3+ years of carlessness, I’ve decided that I can lead a fuller life in Portland if I have a set of wheels! I’m going to be a full-time student here this fall (plans have changed and I’m not moving to the Bay Area this year) and a reliable car would be very helpful for commuting, as well as helping me get out of town when the urge strikes.

Please let me know if you or anyone you know has a reliable car for sale! Ideally, I’m looking for a Toyota or Honda under $2000, no older than 1990, automatic transmission (though manual is ok too), with less than 200k miles, that runs well. I’m somewhat flexible however, if you know of a good car for sale that doesn’t meet all of these preferences.

Any information you can pass along would be appreciated! Please email
me at rjamieson84 at gmail.com

Thank you!
